Virtual Reality in Medical Practice

This class explores the application of virtual reality in clinical practice, specifically in surgical training, rehabilitation, pain management, and the treatment of mental illness. There will be time devoted to allowing attendees to experience virtual reality on our Reality Lab machines and explore some of the programs we have available for medical education.

Learning Objectives:

  • Gain historical perspective on how virtual reality technology developed in medicine
  • Learn how virtual reality is being used in clinical practice today
  • Understand the basic functions of the HTC Vive Virtual Reality Headset and how to maneuver in a virtual reality environment
